Search options

Allegheny Advisors offers retained and contingent search programs. The decision is ultimately yours, and depends on the status of your hiring need. Here are the main contractual items that differ between the two options: 

  • Overall fee percentage
    • Contrary to the industry norm, we typically offer a lower rate for retained searches (contact us for details).
  • Deposit required to commence the search 
    • Retained - 1/3 of the estimated total fee, or an agreed upon flat fee amount.
    • Contingent - No deposit required.
  • Length of replacement guarantee
    • Retained - 180 days
    • Contingent - 90 days
  • How quickly we are required to deliver candidates
    • Retained - 30 days, or an alternative agreed upon time frame.
    • Contingent - N/A

What are the benefits of working with you? 

To put it simply, we are firm believers in conducting searches the right way. Our tried-and-true process involves extensive cold calling and networking. What geographic areas do recruit in?

We recruit on a national basis. Through extensive research and recruiting the old fashioned way (cold calling), we are capable of providing services to employers in any U.S. market. The process remains the same regardless of where our clients are located. 

What types of positions have you successfully filled?

The majority of our searches are mid to senior level openings. Over the years placements have included many different segments, including operations at the site, regional, and VP level, sales/leasing, construction, development, acquisitions, dispositions, accounting/finance,  and C-level roles.

Do you provide candidate references? 

Yes, we are happy to complete thorough professional references upon your request. 

What are the fees for your services?

It depends on which search option you select. We offer retained and contingent options and the choice ultimately comes down to what makes sense for your particular situation. Contact us for more information.

What if we hire one of your candidates and they don't work out or they leave on their own?

Our retained and contingent agreements both protect you as the client in this situation. For example, our standard retained agreement states we will find you a replacement if the candidate leaves within 180 days of their start date, while our standard contingent agreement includes a replacement guarantee of 90 days.  

What if we engage Allegheny Advisors on a retained basis and you aren't able to identify suitable candidates?

Our retained agreement guarantees we will present qualified candidates within a certain period of time (typically 30 days), and if we fail to do so we will refund the retainer fee. 

What if we interview candidates presented by Allegheny Advisors and subsequently hire someone who applied for our job internally?

If this occurs we allow you to credit the retainer fee towards our next search assignment.
